Opening day, arranging the "goods" for display

$1.2 million in screenprinted black market currency, designed and printed by Tyler printmaking BFA students. Black ink on newsprint sheets, and hand-cut by MBA students from the Fox Business School.

Market Forces

Five day collaborative silkscreen production, cut-and-assemble workspace, and vending area with digital projection. Temple Contemporary, Philadelphia. Exhibition and sale events ran from Nov. 18 - Dec 13.

A project in which MBA students were tasked with researching and presenting data on black market economies in Philadelphia, and printmaking students were tasked with designing paper sculpture approximations of the objects and printing over $1 million in counterfeit currency to be scattered across campus and used to purchase the "goods" in a parallel economy of simulated supply and demand.

A collaboration with Amze Emmons and the Printmaking Department at Tyler School of Art, James Moustafellos and the Fox School of Business, Temple University, and Rob Blackson of Temple Contemporary Gallery. An artist-in-residence project at Tyler School of Art

Opening day: customers using the black market currency (found at various "drop" locations) in order to purchase the hand-made black market items.

Six teams of MBA students spent seven weeks researching specific products of the local Philadelphia black market economy. Their data in turn was used by the printmaking students to design and screenprint an array of paper proxies for the installation and sale event.
